Vanessa Cameron MSc
Team Leader
I have been an experienced educator serving children for over 20 years. I was inspired to create a support group for early childhood teachers in response to the Covid-19 pandemic challenges to education. It is my hope that by collaborating with other leaders in the field we can motivate teachers and inspire a growth mindset. Through collaboration we can accomplish so much more. I want to mitigate some of the effects the school closures will have on students such as illiteracy. The Early Childhood Legacy Team is designed to partner with professionals who are interested in supporting teachers to enhance their knowledge and skills . Students need to develop a growth mindset and perform at their optimum potential .
I am a graduate of Shortwood Teachers College and holds a Teaching Diploma in Early Childhood Education, a Bachelors Degree in Guidance and Counselling from the International University of the Caribbean, a MSc in Early Childhood Studies from Walden University and a Graduate Certificate in Infant and Child Mental Health from Seneca College, Canada. I have worked both in the private and public schools, serving children from low socio-economic to very high socio-economic levels. Over my twenty years in teaching I have worked in every grade level from Preschool to Grade 3. My knowledge and skills are supported with my extensive classroom experience.
As an educator I have an awesome opportunity to join forces with other leaders in early childhood education to motivate teachers, elevate their practice and thinking about teaching. Ultimately, reproducing great teachers that will leave a positive legacy. I am excited to have established the Early Childhood Legacy Team that focuses on a global collaborative process that will empower early childhood teachers to develop a growth mindset and effectively improve provisions in the classroom for children. As an agent of social change strengthening the early years is the best action I can take to ensure a better and brighter future for everyone.
